East of England market commentary
What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
East of England house prices stood at £338,707 in June 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That was a small fall of 0.2% on the month.
It also left values 1.1% higher than a year earlier. The latest figure sits close to the recent high point, but the monthly pattern has been uneven.
Private rents in the East of England continued to edge higher in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. The average monthly rent reached £1,285.
That is up from £1,281 in June, a rise of 0.3% month on month. The annual picture is also still upward, but the pace has eased.
East of England’s labour market picture is relatively firm in the latest ONS and Nomis data. The region had a resident population of 6.57 million in 2024, giving a large base of households and workers.
