North Hertfordshire’s latest UK House Price Index reading for April 2026 puts the average home at £420,364. That is up 1.8% on the month, or £7,619 higher than March’s £412,745.
It also leaves prices 2.4% above April 2025, when the average stood at £410,426.
According to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents, the average rent in North Hertfordshire stood at £1,421 in May 2026. That was up by £6 on the month, a 0.4% increase, and £62 higher than a year earlier.
Annual rent growth was 4.6% in May.
North Hertfordshire’s labour market sits well above the Great Britain average on the latest ONS and Nomis figures. The resident population was 137,201 in 2024, giving useful context for the scale of the local workforce and the size of the pool of households competing for homes.
