What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
Greater London house prices rose to £553,870 in June 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is a 1.0% increase on May, when the average price stood at £548,204.
It is still below the same month last year, however, with prices down 2.5% year on year.
Greater London’s average private rent reached £2,317 in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That is up from £2,302 in June, a month-on-month rise of 0.63%.
It is also £67 higher than in July 2025, which puts annual growth at 2.99%.
Greater London had a resident population of 9.15 million in 2024, making it by far the largest regional labour market in the UK data here.
