What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
Southwark’s average house price stood at £572,455 in April 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is up 1.4% on the month.
It is still 1.2% below the same point last year. The latest move follows a dip in March, when the average price was £564,467 and monthly growth was -0.7%.

Southwark’s labour market picture for 2025 sits above the UK average on pay, but it is mixed on participation. The resident population was 314,786 in 2024, giving the borough a large base of working-age residents and households to consider when looking at affordability context.
