House prices in North East England continued to edge upwards in June 2026, according to the latest UK House Price Index. The average price reached £165,550.
That is up 1.0% on May and 4.3% higher than a year earlier. The monthly rise is a little stronger than in May, when prices grew by 0.6%.
North East England’s average private rent was £783 in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was up £2 from June, a monthly rise of 0.3%.
The annual pace was 6.3%, slightly below June’s 6.3% and well down on the 8.9% recorded in July 2025.
