Gateshead’s average house price stood at £158,885 in April 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is a rise of 2.6% on the month and 6.9% higher than a year earlier.
It also leaves the market above the £150,000 mark for the third month in a row.
Gateshead’s private rent market continued to edge higher in May 2026. The ONS Price Index of Private Rents shows the average monthly rent at £790.
That is up from £788 in April, a monthly rise of 0.3%. The annual increase was 4.8%, down from 5.1% in the previous month.
