Newcastle upon Tyne’s average house price reached £208,589 in June 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is up 1.8% on May and 6.7% higher than a year ago.
The latest figure also moves the city above the £200,000 mark again after a brief dip in May.
Newcastle upon Tyne’s average private rent stood at £1,207 in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was up by £1 from June, so the month-on-month move was modest at 0.1%.
Even so, the annual pace remained strong at 9.8%.
Newcastle upon Tyne has an estimated resident population of 320,838, so this is a sizeable city labour market with a broad mix of jobs and households.
