Islington market commentary
What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
Islington’s average house price stood at £673,384 in June 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That was down 1.1% on the month.
It also means values have fallen back from the £681,176 recorded in May. The annual picture is weaker still.
Islington’s average private rent stood at £2,854 in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was up £11 from June, a monthly rise of 0.4%.
It also leaves rents 5.9% higher than a year earlier, when the average was £2,694.
Islington’s labour market picture is shaped by a large resident base and comparatively strong earnings. ONS and Nomis show a resident population of 224,551 in 2025.
That gives the borough a substantial labour pool, and it also means local housing demand is being formed by a wide mix of workers, households and tenure types.
