Southampton’s average house price stood at £235,362 in June 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is the latest mix-adjusted figure for the city.
It puts Southampton just above the previous month’s £234,125. Prices rose by 0.5% month on month in June.
That is a firmer rise than May’s 0.1% increase.
Southampton’s private rents edged higher again in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. The average rent now stands at £1,255 a month.
That is up from £1,253 in June, a monthly rise of 0.1%. The annual picture is stronger.
Southampton’s latest ONS/Nomis labour-market picture shows a city with a sizeable resident base and a mixed affordability backdrop. The resident population was 259,230 in 2025.
That gives the local earnings data useful context, but it also means a broad and varied labour market rather than a single, uniform income profile.
