Nottingham market commentary
What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
Nottingham’s latest UK House Price Index figure puts the average home at £192,543 in April 2026. That is up by 0.5% on March, when the average price stood at £191,599.
It also leaves prices 0.4% higher than a year earlier, so the market is still edging forward rather than moving sharply in either direction.
Nottingham’s private rent market remained above £1,000 a month in May 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. The average rent was £1,006.
That was £1 lower than April’s £1,007. It means rents edged down slightly month on month, but the overall level remains close to recent highs.
Nottingham’s labour market picture points to a city with a large resident base, but pay and participation still sit below the Great Britain average. The resident population was 331,077 in 2024.
