St George's Site Redevelopment
The St George's site in Wolverhampton is undergoing a significant regeneration led by developer Capital&Centric. The project aims to transform a 5-acre brownfield site, including the former Sainsbury's store and the Grade II-listed St George's Church, into a vibrant, residential-led neighbourhood. Following public consultation events in July 2026, the masterplan is being refined with a focus on community-led design, incorporating approximately 370 new homes, a food hall, commercial spaces, and improved public realm, with a full planning application expected by the end of 2026.
Smithgate
Smithgate is a 12-acre mixed-use regeneration project in Wolverhampton city centre, transforming the area between School Street and Darlington Street. Led by the English Cities Fund (a partnership between Muse, Legal & General, and Homes England) in collaboration with the City of Wolverhampton Council, the scheme aims to deliver up to 1,000 new homes, alongside 20,000 sq. ft. of retail and leisure space. Construction is actively progressing on the first phase, Bicycle Works, which will provide 331 high-specification apartments.
