What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
New Forest’s average house price stood at £380,310 in June 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That was up 1.1% on the month and 1.2% higher than a year earlier.
It is a modest rise, but it also marks a clear improvement on the softer patch seen earlier in the year.
New Forest’s average monthly private rent stood at £1,241 in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was up £3 on June’s £1,238, a month-on-month rise of 0.2%.
The annual rate was 1.4%, slightly higher than June’s 1.1% but well below the pace seen a year earlier.
New Forest’s resident labour market picture is steady and relatively strong by national standards. The ONS Annual Population Survey profile, shown by Nomis, puts the employment rate at 79.8%.
That is above the Great Britain figure of 75.5%. The unemployment rate is 2.8%, well below the 4.5% GB average.
