Leicester’s latest UK House Price Index data shows an average property price of £228,618 in June 2026. That is down 0.7% on the month.
It is still 1.7% higher than a year earlier, so prices remain above where they were in June 2025.
Leicester’s average private rent stood at £1,024 in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was down slightly from £1,025 in June, so the month-on-month movement was marginally negative at -0.1%.
Even so, rents remain higher than a year ago, with annual growth of 2.3%.
Leicester’s labour market profile gives useful context for affordability, even if it does not tell us anything direct about house prices or rents. The city had a resident population of 383,116 in 2025, so the local market is supported by a large and diverse base of households and workers.
