Cheltenham’s average house price stood at £325,399 in June 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is a modest fall of 0.6% on the month, after a 1.0% drop in May.
Even so, values remain above the level seen a year earlier, with annual growth at 2.2%.
Cheltenham’s private rent market continued to edge higher in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. The average monthly rent reached £1,259.
That was up £5 from June, a month-on-month rise of 0.4%. The annual picture also points to steady growth.
Cheltenham’s latest ONS/Nomis labour-market picture points to a relatively strong local earnings and employment base. The town had an estimated resident population of 121,452 in 2025, giving the labour market a sizeable local context for a city of this scale.
