Wirral’s average house price stood at £216,862 in April 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is a monthly fall of 2.5%, after March’s average of £222,537.
Even with that drop, prices are still 6.1% higher than a year ago, showing that the market has held onto solid annual growth.
Wirral’s average private rent stood at £838 in May 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was up by £3 from April’s £835.
The monthly rise was 0.4%, which shows prices are still edging higher rather than moving sharply in either direction. The annual picture is stronger.
Wirral’s labour market picture is drawn from the ONS Annual Population Survey profile via Nomis, with earnings taken from ONS ASHE resident-analysis data. The latest figures show a resident population of 328,873 in 2024, so this is a sizeable local market with a broad base of workers and households.
