West Devon market commentary
What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
West Devon’s average house price stood at £307,291 in April 2026, according to the latest UK House Price Index. That was down 1.4% on the month, after March’s slightly positive reading of 0.1%.
Even with that monthly fall, prices remain well above where they were a year ago.
West Devon’s latest average private rent, measured by the ONS Price Index of Private Rents, stood at £839 in May 2026. That is up from £837 in April, so rents rose by £2 over the month.
The monthly movement was modest, at 0.2%, and it suggests a steady rather than sharp pace of growth.
West Devon has an estimated resident population of 58,923 in 2024. That gives useful context for the local labour market, which is smaller and more mixed than the national picture.
The latest figures come from ONS and Nomis, using the Annual Population Survey for labour market rates and ASHE for resident earnings.
