What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
Wealden’s average house price stood at £386,787 in June 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is slightly lower than May, when the average was £388,860.
The monthly change was -0.5%, so prices edged down after a 1.0% rise in the previous month. The annual picture is also a little softer.
Wealden’s average private rent was £1,266 in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was unchanged from June, after a small monthly dip of 0.7% in the index.
The latest reading suggests a market that is still rising over the year, but only gradually.
Wealden’s latest ONS and Nomis labour-market profile points to a relatively strong earnings and employment picture. The resident population was 168,308 in 2025, so this is a sizeable local labour market with a broad base of workers and households.
On pay, the ASHE resident measure shows median weekly earnings of £865.90, which annualises to £45,027.
