What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
Torbay’s latest UK House Price Index figures for April 2026 show an average house price of £224,372. That is slightly higher than March, up 0.3% month on month.
The market has also improved from the sharp monthly fall seen in March, when prices dropped 2.8% to £223,591.
Torbay’s private rental market continued to edge up in May 2026. The ONS Price Index of Private Rents shows the average monthly rent at £908.
That is up from £901 in April. It is also higher than £870 in May 2025.
The monthly rise was 0.7% in May. That is stronger than April’s 0.3% increase.
Torbay’s labour market picture for 2025, using ONS and Nomis data, shows a local economy with a lower pay level than Great Britain, but a relatively strong employment rate. The resident population was 140,126 in 2024, so these figures matter to a sizeable local base of households.
