Swindon’s housing market continued to firm in June 2026, according to the latest UK House Price Index. The average price reached £265,666.
That is up 1.6% on the month, and 4.4% higher than a year earlier. The latest monthly rise was stronger than in May, when prices were up 0.5% month on month.
Swindon’s average monthly private rent was £1,090 in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was slightly lower than June’s £1,091, so rents dipped by 0.1% over the month.
The latest move is small, but it does show a pause after several months of steady growth.
Swindon has a resident population of 245,286, so it is a sizeable local labour market as well as a housing market with a broad base of households. The latest ONS and Nomis profile, using Annual Population Survey data, shows a mixed but fairly resilient picture for work and pay.
