Stockport’s average house price in the UK House Price Index stood at £314,495 in June 2026. That is slightly below May’s £316,297, so the market slipped 0.6% month on month.
Even so, prices remain firmly above the same point last year, with annual growth at 3.5%.
Stockport’s average private rent was £1,111 in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was up from £1,105 in June, so rents rose by £6 month on month.
The latest monthly move was 0.54%, which is slightly stronger than the 0.47% rise recorded in the previous month.
Stockport’s labour market profile points to a relatively well-paid local resident base. ONS and Nomis data for Apr 2025 to Mar 2026 show median resident weekly pay at £781.70, which annualises to £40,648.
That is slightly above the Great Britain median of £766.60 a week, or £39,863 a year.
