Newark and Sherwood’s housing market remained fairly steady in June 2026, according to the latest UK House Price Index. The average price was £233,902.
That was down 0.4% from May, when the figure stood at £234,780. Even with that monthly dip, values were still 5.0% higher than a year earlier.
Newark and Sherwood’s latest ONS Price Index of Private Rents shows the average monthly rent reached £813 in July 2026. That is up from £804 in June, so rents rose by £9 month on month.
The annual rate of increase also picked up, rising to 4.9% from 4.1% in the previous month.
Newark and Sherwood has a resident population of 128,684. That gives some context for the local labour market and the pool of households earning and spending in the area.
