Lewes house prices stood at £371,860 in April 2026, according to the latest UK House Price Index. That was up 1.5% over the month and 2.4% higher than a year earlier.
It means the market is now above both March 2026 and April 2025 levels.
Lewes rents edged up again in May 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. The average private rent reached £1,323.
That was just £1 higher than April, so the month-on-month move was very small at 0.04%. Even so, the market has kept rising steadily through the year.
Lewes has a sizeable resident workforce and a relatively strong labour-market profile in the latest ONS/Nomis data. The city’s resident population was 102,363 in 2024, which gives useful context for the local earnings and employment figures.
