What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
Halton’s average house price stood at £193,134 in June 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is lower than May’s £195,558, so prices fell by 1.2% month on month.
Even so, the market remains above last year’s level, with an annual rise of 3.7%.
Halton’s private rent market continued to edge higher in July 2026. According to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents, the average monthly rent reached £745.
That is up from £741 in June, a monthly rise of 0.53%. The annual picture remains stronger still.
Halton’s latest ONS/Nomis labour-market profile and ASHE earnings data show a mixed affordability backdrop. The borough had a resident population of 131,912 in 2025, so the labour market matters for a sizeable local base of households looking to buy or rent.
Resident median full-time pay is £697.80 a week, which annualises to £36,286.
