East Devon market commentary
What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
East Devon’s average house price stood at £345,757 in June 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is a small monthly rise of 0.4%, or £1,279, after May’s dip.
On an annual basis, prices were 3.5% higher than a year earlier, showing that the market has regained momentum after a softer spring.
East Devon’s average private rent was £965 in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That is down by £5 from June, a monthly fall of 0.4%.
Rents are still clearly higher than a year ago, however.
East Devon’s latest ONS and Nomis labour-market picture points to a relatively strong local jobs market by UK standards. The resident employment rate is 87.5%, well above the Great Britain figure of 75.5%.
Unemployment is 2.4%, below the national 4.5%. Economic inactivity is 11.4%, also lower than the UK rate of 20.9%.
