Chesterfield’s average house price stood at £199,439 in June 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is just below the £200,000 mark, and it follows a monthly fall of 1.8%.
Prices are still higher than a year ago, however, with annual growth at 4.5%.
Chesterfield’s average private rent stood at £754 in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was up £10 on June’s £744, so rents rose 1.3% month on month.
It also left the market 2.4% above July 2025, when the average rent was £736.
Chesterfield’s latest ONS/Nomis labour-market profile points to a relatively steady local earnings and employment picture. The town had a resident population of 106,419 in 2025, which gives useful context for a medium-sized local economy rather than a large urban labour market.
On pay, ASHE shows resident median full-time earnings of £717.70 a week.
