Arun market commentary
What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
Arun’s average house price stood at £321,927 in June 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That was up 0.3% on the month, following May’s 0.5% rise.
The market has therefore kept moving higher, but at a modest pace. The annual picture is stronger.
Arun’s average private rent stood at £1,227 in July 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was unchanged from June, which suggests the market has kept moving, but only at a very modest pace month to month.
The annual picture is still more clearly upwards.
Arun’s latest ONS and Nomis labour-market profile suggests a relatively strong local jobs picture, with some constraints on purchasing power when set against Great Britain. The resident population was 172,326 in 2025, which gives useful context for the size of the local labour market and the pool of households competing for homes.
