What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
Arun’s average house price stood at £321,669 in April 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is up 0.8% on March, when the average price was £319,129.
It also leaves prices 0.1% above the same month last year, so the annual picture is close to flat.
Arun’s average private rent stood at £1,224 in May 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was up by £3 from April’s £1,221.
It is a small month-on-month rise of 0.27%, so rents are still edging higher rather than jumping sharply. The annual picture remains firmer.
Arun’s latest ONS/Nomis labour-market profile shows a mixed picture for local affordability context. The resident population was 170,064 in 2024, so this is a fairly sizeable local market rather than a small settlement.
