Adur market commentary
What the latest official data may mean for buyers, renters and investors.
Adur’s average house price stood at £355,669 in April 2026, according to the UK House Price Index. That is down 2.9% on the month and 3.0% lower than a year earlier.
The latest reading points to a softer market after a brief period of stronger values through mid-2025.
Adur’s average private rent stood at £1,383 in May 2026, according to the ONS Price Index of Private Rents. That was unchanged from April.
The monthly movement was very small, at 0.04%, so rents were broadly flat over the latest month. The annual picture is still one of growth, but the pace has eased.
Adur’s labour market picture for Jan 2025 to Dec 2025, using ONS data published by Nomis and ASHE earnings figures, shows a relatively strong employment base. The resident population stood at 64,889 in 2024.
That gives useful context for a smaller local economy, where shifts in jobs and pay can matter for day-to-day housing affordability.
